FEASIBILITY STUDY OF THE RELIGIOUS SITES
AND HOLY SHRINES IN IRAQ
THE EPILOGUE
As far as cultural heritage is concerned, Iraq is probably the
country with the most spectacular and valuable prosperous assets in
the world. It wouldn’t’ be an overstatement to call Iraq as the land
of “uniques and firsts”. Mesopotamia and its neighborhoods have been
the points of specific attraction. With the exception of Holy Mekka,
the oldest Islamic heritages are located in Iraq and it is the only
country that both Islamic sects works of art are placed together.
There are more than 150 archaeological sites pinpointed by now but
there has been no works carried out to bring them to light
Considering the current religious and ethnical mosaic as well as
their relative weights, it is evident that Islamic, Jewish,
Christian historical works of arts are the most outstanding ones
among the others. Besides, the heritage of older civilizations such
as Babylon, Ashur, Sumeria and Akkad etc. and those of other
minorities are not to be neglected provided that the order of
priorities is rationally established .
